The ESU 51832 SwitchPilot 3 Servo is a multi-protocol stationary decoder designed to control up to eight RC servo drives on DCC and Märklin Motorola digital systems. It features a 4-line illuminated OLED display and three physical buttons, allowing for direct configuration of all parameters without a central command station. Technical features include power-on pulse suppression to prevent servo twitching and the ability to disconnect power to individual servos to stop humming. The decoder supports power input from either the digital track or an external AC/DC source and includes overload protection for all outputs. Configuration is supported via Programming on Main (POM), the programming track, or automatic address learning via a dedicated button.

Functionally, the decoder provides two primary operating modes: Digital mode for fixed end positions, suitable for turnouts and signals, and Proportional mode for variable positioning of components such as engine shed doors or cranes. Parameters for travel speed, end positions, and bounce effects are individually adjustable for each servo. The unit is RailCom-compatible for reading out CVs and allows for analog operation through the connection of up to 16 external pushbuttons. Firmware updates can be managed through the ESU LokProgrammer to maintain compatibility with various RC servo types, including both analog and digital micro-controller variants.
