The ESU 51832 SwitchPilot 3 Servo is a high-performance stationary decoder designed for the digital automation of infrastructure on model railway layouts spanning Epoch I through VI. Compatible with DCC and Märklin Motorola protocols, this unit provides precise control for up to eight RC servo motors, facilitating the movement of turnouts, semaphore signals, and animated scenic elements across DB, SBB, ÖBB, and other international railway systems. It supports both Digital mode for fixed end-position switching and Proportional mode for variable positioning of components such as engine shed doors or crane arms.

The technical architecture features an integrated four-line OLED display and three physical buttons for direct on-device configuration, bypassing the need for a central command station. The decoder includes advanced pulse suppression to prevent servo twitching during power-up and can automatically disconnect power to individual servos to eliminate humming at rest. It is fully RailCom-compatible for CV readouts and allows for firmware updates via the ESU LokProgrammer. Additional features include input for up to 16 external pushbuttons for analog operation and overload protection for all eight outputs when powered by either the track or an external AC/DC source.
