The Trix 23628 set replicates a prototypical InterCity (IC) formation of the Deutsche Bahn AG (DB AG) as it appeared in Era VI, specifically around 2017. This set consists of three type Bpmz 291.2 second-class open seating cars, which represent the backbone of German long-distance express services. Originally developed for high-speed comfort, these cars feature the standardized ICE livery—a light gray finish with a continuous traffic red stripe—reflecting the DB AG corporate identity for modern long-distance rolling stock. These vehicles were commonly deployed on major corridors across Germany and on international EuroCity routes, often hauled by Class 101 or Class 120 electric locomotives.
