Description
Trix T22740 — Dampflok 01.10 Kohle DB
The Class 01.10 was one of the most powerful express steam locomotives operated by the Deutsche Bundesbahn (DB). Originally developed in the late 1930s as a three-cylinder evolution of the standard Class 01, these locomotives were designed for high-speed passenger service across Germany. This model represents the locomotive in its Era III configuration, featuring the high-performance boiler (Hochleistungskessel) installed during the DB’s modernization program in the 1950s. As a coal-fired (Kohle) variant, it served as the backbone of heavy express haulage on primary mainlines before the widespread electrification of the West German rail network.
This Trix HO scale model (1:87) features a high-quality die-cast metal construction for both the locomotive boiler and the chassis, providing exceptional tractive effort and stability. The model is equipped with a modern digital decoder compatible with DCC and mfx protocols, paired with a comprehensive sound suite that includes synchronized steam chuffs, whistles, and auxiliary station announcements. Technical highlights include a high-performance motor with a flywheel mounted in the boiler, LED directional lighting, and a NEM coupler pocket with a kinematic-guided close coupler mechanism on the tender. The locomotive is also pre-prepared for the installation of a smoke generator to enhance operational realism.
